Brückner Group opens another assembly site in Slovakia

Brueckner Group

We are delighted to have been part of such an important transaction and to have identified another location within Slovakia for our client.

The German Brückner Group is a family-owned, medium-sized group of companies. The group members are partners to the plastics and packaging industry worldwide, providing special machines and complete production lines. For almost 20 years already the Brückner Group has been operating an assembly plant in Topolcany, Slovakia, which is currently being expanded to 28,000m² and a workforce of 450 employees.

Thanks to the very positive development of the group members’ solutions for future technologies such as electromobility and sustainable packaging, the Brückner Group continues to grow and needs another Europeans assembly site. A specially prepared site analysis for suitable locations in Eastern Europe shortlisted Poland and Slovakia. From a closer look at several locations in Slovakia, the decision fell on Detva Region. Decisive factors were the high level of interest and support from the Banská Bystrica region and Brückner's very positive experience in Slovakia and with Slovakian employees. The new assembly site will offer workplaces for mechanical and electrical assembly in single-shift operation in the clean environment of a high-tech assembly plant on 12,000 sqm rented in the industrial park developed by the Punch Group. In the first phase Brückner will hire up to 200 employees.

Eckhard Böker, Managing Director Brueckner Slovakia s.r.o., is happy about the new location: “In Detva we found a good match with the greenfield industrial park, developed by the Punch Group. Next to the availability of premium quality premises, the new Punch Campus also offers on-site catering, security and other services that will be beneficial for our operational efficiency and employee satisfaction. We are really looking forward to expanding our commitment in Slovakia.”

Ondrej Lunter, chairman of the BBSK, says: ”The Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region is extremely interested in attracting investors and we are actively engaged in this topic. It is a great pleasure for me that the Brückner Group has chosen Detva as a place to expand its business in Slovakia. We have entered into intensive negotiations not only with the investor, but also with the city of Detva and the Ministry of Economy, and we are working together to ensure that the investor will be able to carry out further expansion of the park and create additional job opportunities for the residents of Detva and the surrounding regions. In order to make this possible, it is the goal of the BBSK as well as the city of Detva to create an agreement with the state to build an access road to the industrial park outside the city of Detva,”

Branislav Baran, Mayor of Detva, adds: "We are very pleased that the place of the cancelled production of Punch in the industrial park will be replaced by the engineering company Brückner, which is based in Slovakia, specifically in Topoľčany". According to the mayor, the new company could start production from 1 January 2024, the first employees should start training in Topoľčany as early as September."
